5 Years // Building Envelope

You are also entitled to submit a claim with the Alberta New Home Warranty Program should you wish to do so.
Alberta New Home Warranty ProgramAs members of the Alberta New Home Warranty Program, we are able to provide you with Alberta’s most trusted and reliable new home protection. Here is an outline of what’s covered under your new home warranty:
- 1 Year: Materials and Labour
This covers defects in materials and labour pertaining to items such as baseboards, flooring, and trim. - 2 Years: Delivery & Distribution Systems
This covers defects in materials and labour pertaining to items such as heating, electrical, and plumbing. - 5 Years: Building Envelope
This covers defects in the system of components that separate the conditioned space from unconditioned space, including the roof and exterior walls. - 10 Years: Structural
This covers the load-bearing elements of your home, such as framing and foundation.
When you own a home, there are some items that will require normal, seasonal maintenance. Items of this nature are your responsibility has a homeowner to address, ensuring your home functions as desired for years to come.
Your new home warranty is broken down into four categories:
- 1 Year: Materials & Labour
- 2 Years: Delivery & Distribution Systems
- 5 Years: Building Envelope
- 10 Years: Structural
Parkwood offers two courtesy check-ins for every homeowner. Our Service & Warranty team will reach out to you as you approach your three-month and one-year new home milestones to address potential items as needed.
When you buy a Parkwood home, we will provide you with a comprehensive warranty manual that details what to consider when owning and maintaining your new home. This guide will explain what falls under your responsibilities as a homeowner and what is protected under your new home warranty.
Our team is happy to answer any questions you may have about warranty coverage and regular home maintenance.
Emergency situations include complete loss of heat, complete loss of electricity, water or sewer penetration into the home, a gas leak, or a major plumbing leak.
If you are experiencing an emergency situation in your home, there are two ways to contact us:
- During Parkwood business hours (Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm, please contact our main office line at 780.436.8118 and press 4 to reach our Warranty department.
- Outside regular business hours, please call our 24/7 emergency line at 780.232.4707 and leave a message describing the emergency so our on-call team member ca contact you. Please include your name, address, and preferred contact information in your message.
